Vacation!!

We just got back from a mini vacation to Oregon. It was a really long drive with 2 little ones but worth it! The entire drive there, Emmett had the runs which led to a bad diaper rash (actually more like a burn). Poor guy! Nolan did awesome in the car!

We started our trip off with a visit to the A.C. Gilbert Discovery Museum for kids. It was the coolest place ever! Nolan didn't want to leave!

Looking at bugs under the microscope...

Giant chess board. Those are benches around it, just to give an idea of the size.

A cave on the playground...

Emmett's first ride on a swing alone...

Working the old water pump

Checking out the dinosaur room..

Awesome train track!

The rainforest room!

Giant rocking chair

Next we took a ride to Newport. I had not been to the Oregon coast since I was a little girl. It brought back so many memories! While we were there we went to the aquarium. Both boys got a kick out of all the fish.

Then we spent some time on the beach. It was pretty darn cold. We are used to 100 degree weather this time of year! Nolan came up to me and said, "Mommy, it's so pretty." My little nature boy! Nolan picked up his very first seashells. He had a blast feeding the sea gulls bread.

Next we headed to the Oregon Zoo in Portland. My family went their a lot when I was little. This place was huge. Much bigger than I remembered! Emmett slept a good majority of the time there. Nolan got to pet goats, sheep, bunnies and chickens. We also got to see bears, wolves, a giraffe, rhino, hippo, monkeys, etc. So much fun!

Two of my boys checking out the bears...

There was a dinosaur exhibit going on at the zoo. Of course we couldn't pass that up. Nolan wasn't a fan, which really surprised me!

Last, we visited the Enchanted Forest in Salem. I remember going there almost every weekend and loving it. Nolan was a bit afraid at first but he finally warmed up to the idea. He went on his first roller coaster with Aaron and I. I don't understand this kid sometimes. He can be afraid of a balloon, but this big ride didn't scare him a bit. He loved it!

Leaving the Alice in Wonderland exhibit.
